High value shop theft stopped by security staff

A man and a teenager have been arrested following reports of theft from a shop on High Street in Scunthorpe earlier today (Thursday, 5 February 2026).

At around 12pm, officers were called to assist after security staff detained two alleged shoplifters who had reportedly attempted to steal perfumes worth over an estimated £2,000.

Officers were immediately deployed and a 28-year-old man, and a 17-year-old boy were swiftly arrested at the scene on suspicion of theft from a shop. They both remain in police custody while enquiries continue.
